New Roots Blight Committee Coordinator, Greg Griffin, has initiated and grown a litter clean up crew that utilizes volunteers, like himself, to clean up blighted areas in our community.
Although it may seem like just cleaning up litter, this New Roots Litter Clean Up initiative does so much more than just make the community a more beautiful place. Participants in these events not only feel a personal investment in maintaining a clean environment, but this participation helps to develop a sense of belonging and increase one’s view of self worth. It also develops an understanding for the importance of dependability and hard work, which are transferable skills.
The Litter Clean Up Crew meets every Saturday in a designated area in Luzerne County.
